What is marketing automation?
Marketing automation is the use of software and technology to make marketing activities more efficient and automate repetitive tasks. It's a subset of Customer Relationship Management that focuses on the definition, segmentation, scheduling, and tracking of marketing campaigns.
Marketing Automation assists greatly in areas like Relationship marketing, Cross-sell and upsell, Retention, and marketing ROI measurement. Marketing Automation involves multiple areas of marketing and is generally email marketing technology coupled with a structured sales process.
How does it work?
Nopplus Marketing Automation plugin is a flexible marketing automation addition to nopCommerce. The key component of this module is Workflows. Workflows are the format in which your automated tasks and marketing campaigns are designed. Every flow starts with a trigger that can be a timer or an action by the user, then check it with some rules and after that perform an action.

Builtin campaigns
- Abandoned Cart
This workflow reminds customers who have left items in their shopping carts with automatic emails after a specified period of time.
- Automatic VIP
After a customer pays his order, the total amount of all his orders will be checked and if it exceeded your desired number, he will be assigned a specific role.
- Birthday Emails
Every day it is checked which customers' birthdays are on.
Then an email with a coupon code will be sent to them!
- Followup Emails
After the nopCommerce event triggers, the workflow will run and an email with related content will be sent to the customer.
In this sample, we send an email to the customer with a link to the products he had bought after paying for his order and ask him to add a review for them.
- Personalized Coupons
This workflow generates custom coupons for certain situations for each customer.
- Winback Inactive Customers
This workflow will run once a day and extract customers that had been inactive for example 14 days and send them an email with a discount coupon.
- Wishlist Marketing
This workflow reminds customers who have left items in their wish lists with automatic emails after a specified period of time.
You can enable each of these workflows, you can customize them, or even add new workflows triggering them with whatever nopcommerce event you like.
